Panel Track Blinds and
Sliding Panel Shades are fastly
becoming a popular alternative to regular vertical blinds for sliding
glass doors. These are designed for large, grand openings, walls of
glass or even as a simple room divider. We provide four kinds of these
unique blinds.
Our panel track blinds are simply panels of fabric that are spaced out based on the width of your opening. The bottom of the fabric is weighted and the top slides along a flat, narrow panel. Each panel will overlap itself to stack on either the left, right or both sides of the opening if you want it split in the middle. In most cases, you do not have a choice on the width of each panel and they can range from 18" wide up to 28" wide depending on the width of your window. Call though. We can get these wider or narrower in some instances.
The advantage of the panel blinds is that they can go wide. Real wide. Some almost 20 feet and if you but them together, double that. They are made for large, grand windows such as sliding glass doors, walls of glass, and we have even used them as a simple room divider.
The disadvantage of the sliding panel is first, price. They are a relatively (although not bad) costly blind. The second disadvantage is that they are panels. That means they stack behind each other and no matter what, at least one panel will remain exposed and depending on the panel size, it could be significant. For sliding glass doors, most people will sacrifice the part that doesn't slide open as the "stack" side. However, if you want to bypass the opening altogether with the stack, you will need ample room. Call if you have questions.
All of our sliding panels are pretty straight forward in ordering. However, with the woven wood panel track, you must choose an edging. This is used to protect the blind from fraying on the edges. Each panel slightly touches the next and the banding is necessary on order not to ruin the shade.
